2001 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible | Sunset Orange Metallic | 67,309 miles displayed
Not every Camaro belongs in our showroom. This one earned its place through its factory specification, uncommon colour and the kind of V8 convertible experience that made these cars memorable when new.
I remember factory ordering new Camaro SS convertibles in 2001 and waiting to see if we would get one with the SLP option. That makes finding one like this especially satisfying.
A genuine SS, finished by SLP
The factory RPO record confirms the WU8 Camaro SS Appearance and Performance Package and Y2Y SLP processing code. Built at GM’s Sainte-Thérèse, Québec plant, this Camaro was sent to SLP for its SS conversion.
It is the real thing: an SS convertible with the equipment and documentation to support its identity.
A rare colour and configuration
Only 453 automatic Camaro SS convertibles were produced for 2001, and 44 were finished in Sunset Orange Metallic. Paired with a black power top and black leather interior, it is a particularly striking example of the final-generation fourth-generation Camaro.
The LS1 V8
Its naturally aspirated 5.7-litre LS1 V8, rated at 325 horsepower in SS specification, is paired with a 4L60-E four-speed automatic. The SS equipment includes FE4 special ride-and-handling suspension, a power-steering cooler and wider 275/40ZR17 performance tires. A limited-slip differential and 3.23 rear axle ratio complete a drivetrain that is as enjoyable on a relaxed drive as it is when the road opens up.
The factory specification also includes air conditioning, cruise control, a power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, traction control, four-wheel disc brakes and an eight-speaker audio system.
History disclosed plainly
The odometer displays 67,309 miles, approximately 108,324 kilometres. This is a U.S.-market car with a miles-based odometer. Some Canadian service entries appear to have recorded the displayed numbers as kilometres, resulting in “potential odometer rollback” alerts on the CARFAX report. We disclose those alerts and make the complete report available so buyers can review the recorded history for themselves.
The CARFAX also lists 12 service records, prior Michigan and Illinois registration, documented import history and no reported accident or damage records.
